Burj Khalifa architect on jury for WAN Urban Design awards

Adrian Smith, the architect of the Burj Khalifa, is included on the jury of the WAN Urban Design competition, which awards the best in international urban design, transport and infrastructure.

Projects completed on or after January 1, 2008, can be entered into the completed projects category, while others can be entered into the unbuilt/design-only projects.

Any urban design, infrastructure or transport projects , including airports, bus/train stations, parking structures, bridges, public parks, master plans, waterfront developments, utility buildings, landscapes and other public realm areas are eligible for entry.

Smith has been a practicing architect for 45 years, and apart from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, he has also worked on the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai; Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago; and Nanjing Greenland Financial Center in Nanjing.

His work has won more than 120 awards worldwide, including nine national AIA Honor Awards.
