Jonathan Orlove on...

design
It's expansive, it's inclusive and it's hopeful.

where he finds inspiration
In people. Through professional experiences as well as life experiences, I've worked with or have met a great range of personalities. I find human dialogue to be inspirational.

his favorite "moment" in architecture
The Chicago School and its legacy. Three favorite Chicago buildings: Monadnock, Reliance and Hancock.

his favorite city architecturally
Petra, Jordan. It's architecture as sculpture. The in situ rock was sculpted and hollowed out to create a cityscape that is sublime.

his favorite thing about a collaborative design process
Building consensus. I find some of the best projects to be those that satisfy the needs of all involved.

what he'd be doing if he weren't an architect
Growing olives in Spain.

what he does when he's not designing
Eating.
