Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture - founded in 2006 by Smith, Gill and Robert Forest after they split from SOM's Chicago office - has won an international competition to design the Wuhan Greenland Center in central China.
Resembling a slending glass bullet, the 1,988-foot-high tower is slated to be the country's third-tallest building. Floor space will total 3.2 million square feet; programmatic elements include offices, luxury condos, a five-star hote, and a private club.
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed in roughly five years.
