Job Description:

With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assist in pre-design/planning and all design phases of private residential design, multistory mixed-use housing, high-rise residential, corporate/commercial, retail, institutional buildings, and bio-tech buildings, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, and unit plans; set up meetings with client representatives for presentations and workshops, analysis of goals and needs, develop programmed space spreadsheets, narrative summaries, room data sheets, adjacency diagrams, graphic content, and prepare final Developed Project Program document; assist in responding to Requests for Qualifications (RFQ’s), Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) and design competitions; gather information on past projects, content development, quick turnaround concept development, 3D digital modeling, along with presentation and proposal design and formatting; research domestic and international building codes and regulations, collect data, and write reports and presentations to incorporate research and data into architectural designs; assist in establishing task schedule and manpower requirements consistent with the project agreement, including identifying project requirements and projecting long term needs; assist in managing and coordination of project consultant agreements, project budgets, and construction budgets with clients and contractors involved; assist in identifying and quantifying tasks outside the scope of the Owner-Architect agreement for negotiation of additional services; produce initial design documentation and presentations to help kick start the project and gather information from the client with the use of rendered design drawings, using free hand sketching, color pencils, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, and other Architectural 2D/3D software to communicate architectural design concepts; collaborate on concept alternatives, studies and development requiring 3D digital massing, floor plans, space plans, building elevations, sections and perspectives; participate in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and public agencies on a given project and coordinate for client and agency review and approval; coordinate and gather data on provided site survey of existing conditions and take as built measurements; produce site analysis studies with site photography, code research, base drawings, and diagrams; provide alternative site design studies requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital massing and physical site modeling; prepare and incorporate weather data analysis to identify passive design potential based on the local climate and building use to minimize building energy needs and maximize the energy savings; prepare client and public presentations, workshops and meetings by using 2D/3D CAD, building information modeling programs (including as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, 3D Studio Max, VRay, Lumion, and Enscape), analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; develop design documents for all design phases, schematic design through construction documents including documenting architectural plans, elevations, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using 2D/3D modeling software, mainly Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, as well as other related BIM, 2D and 3D Modeling software; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating custom detailing, structural engineering principles and building systems into architectural designs; make corrections as indicated by Project Architect and Design Director to in-progress sets of design development and construction documents; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites, buildings and client needs; build physical models using digital fabrication software, 3D printers, and laser cutter for design development and presentations; set up the context model environment and settings for VR architectural visualization for advanced design presentation options for the client(s), as well as to use as in house design reviews; design exterior envelope as well as interior finishing requiring enlarged plans, elevations, sections, details and axonometric drawings; assist in the implementation of firm-wide strategies and collaborate with design teams to ensure sustainable design success, provide support and guidance firm-wide, and focus on the seamless rollout of sustainable design implementation in office design projects including urban design, transportation, retail, and international multistory and high-rise buildings; work in conjunction with sustainable design leadership in the continued improvement and development of high performance design to maintain and improve the quality and consistency of design environment and deliverables; coordinate with contractor and owner to make sure the overall design intent is achieved throughout the construction process; organize, file and distribute documents utilizing Procore, CMiC, Newforma software, BIM360 and other construction coordination software; execute site visits, field observation and meetings to review the progress of construction; coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, kitchen, zoning, signage, acoustic, security, curtain wall, façade maintenance, special systems, geotechnical, vertical transportation, and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems into unified design; perform necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise from client, agency or public input; apply architectural principles to review all related shop drawings, samples, mockups, and cut sheets on materials & equipment; review structural construction for architectural coordination, HVAC system layout and installation, installation of lighting fixtures, and installation of electrical equipment; assist project manager or architect in project closeout, preparation of punch list, record drawings, and post occupancy review.

Base Salary Range for this position $59,634 - $70,000/year
