Job Description: AS+GG is now looking for Architects with 3-8 years of experience. The ideal candidate has a strong creative design portfolio, strong verbal and written communication skills, and should be a self-motivated, team player. Sustainable/high-performance project experience is a plus. Applicants should be proficient in REVIT, Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, V-Ray/Maxwell, Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of Environmental Simulation Analysis tools and Digital Fabrication Methods are valuable but not required. A professional degree is required however our search is not guided solely on years of experience. AS+GG is looking for the right fit. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements: Registration/Accreditation: LEED, IDP application recommended but not required. Education: Minimum Bachelor of Architecture Degree, Bachelor of Science of Arts in Architecture. Licensed Architect, 2+ years experience, Chicago, IL

Job Description: With preliminary direction from the Director or Designer Team Director, participate in predesign and all design phases of multistory mixed-use, housing, high-rise residential, large-scale corporate/commercial, hotel, retail, entertainment, and cruise ship terminal projects, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, and unit plans; research domestic and international building codes and regulations, collect data, and write reports and presentations to incorporate research and data into architectural designs; develop site design alternative studies requiring site plans, site sections, 3D digital massing, and physical site modeling; develop concept alternatives, studies, and development requiring 3D digital massing, floor plans, space plans, building elevations, sections, and perspectives; prepare exterior envelope design requiring enlarged plans, elevations, sections, details and axonometric drawings; prepare client and public presentations, workshops and meetings, using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Maxwell, and SketchUp, analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; develop documents for all design phases, schematic design through construction documents including documenting architectural plans, elevations, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using 2D/3D modeling using Autodesk AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Autodesk Revit and related BIM, 2D and 3D Modeling software; produce design documentation and presentations with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, Prezi and free-hand sketching; organize and coordinate design tasks for inhouse design teams and consultants; organize, file, and distribute documents utilizing eBuilder and Newforma software; organize and manage design documentation and presentations; conduct BIM organization for all documents; participate in the implementation of firm-wide strategies and collaborate with design teams to ensure sustainable design success, provide support and guidance firm-wide, and focus on the seamless rollout of sustainable design implementation in office design projects including urban design, transportation, retail, and international multistory and high-rise buildings; prepare and incorporate weather data analysis to identify passive design potential based on the local climate and building use to minimize building energy needs and maximize the energy savings; provide ongoing development and support for all sustainable design platforms and work closely with design and delivery leadership to guide the transition from traditional sustainable design process and standalone environmental analysis practices into integrated design and analysis processes in collaborative work environments; prepare Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation in DesignBuilder and IES VE-Pro to evaluate indoor and outdoor comfort level and ventilation strategies; produce virtual design simulations to integrate collaborative work flow from the project team and to identify design conflicts using the intelligence of the software and communicate solutions for design development; use advanced task automation techniques (scripting with RhinoScript and MaxScript) to analyze 3D data to incorporate generative solutions into architectural design process; translate computer models into physical models using laser cutter and 3D printer and prepare data for architectural model shop equipment; prepare architectural visualization imagery utilizing advanced rendering and animation techniques using Mental Ray, After Effects, Maya, Premiere, Flash, and V-Ray for design evaluation; set-up automated parametric optimization workflows using available and custom-developed scripts to connect 3D modeling tools, building environmental analysis tools and evolutionary optimization algorithms to optimize the building shape and/or building envelope and provide quick feedback on the performance to the rest of the design team; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating custom detailing, structural engineering principles and building systems into architectural designs; coordinate conceptual design drawings with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), civil, structural, lighting, A/V, telecom, graphics, interiors, and landscape consultants to incorporate building systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation and secure client and regulatory approval; coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, and contractors to respond to requests for information (RFI’s), change orders, clarifications, and modifications; review shop drawings, submittals/cut sheets on materials & equipment.
